CONSTITUTION

LIMESTONE BAND BOOSTERS

 

ARTICLE I:   NAME

Section 1.        The name of the organization is Limestone Band Boosters.

ARTICLE II: OBJECTIVES

Section 1.         To stimulate interest and maintain enthusiasm in the various activities of  the Limestone Band Department.

Section 2.        To provide moral and financial support to the band department, band director, its students and its program.

Section 3.        To cooperate with the band director, the high school superintendent and the school board in ways that will not interfere with the administration of the school and shall not seek to control their policies.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP AND DUES

Section 1.        Any individual who subscribes to the objectives of the organization may become a member, subject only to compliance with the provisions of the bylaws. Membership shall be available without regards to race, color, creed, age, disability, national origin, sex or any other basis prohibited under applicable law.

Section 2.        All parents of students enrolled in the Limestone Band Department and Alumni are considered to be honorary members of this organization.

Section 3.        The organization shall conduct an annual enrollment of members but a person may be admitted to membership at any time. The enrollment period for the current school year shall end May 31.

Section 4.        Only members in good standing shall be eligible to serve in any of its elective or appointive positions. The nominees for elective offices must have attended at least two (2) meetings in the current school year and have been actively involved in competitions and practices.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS AND BOARD

Section 1.        The Officers of this organization shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.

Section 2.        The Executive Board shall consist of the Officers, the Chairman of standing committees and the Band Director or a representative appointed by him.

ARTICLE I: AUTHORITY

Section 1.        Robert’s Rules of Order, revised, shall govern the proceedings of all general body and Executive Board meetings except as they may conflict with the bylaws.

ARTICLE II: DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section 1.         The President shall preside at all meetings of the organization and of the Executive Board; shall perform such other duties as my be prescribed in these bylaws or assigned to him by the organization; shall coordinate the work on the officers committees of the organization in order that the objectives may be promoted; and shall be an ex officio member of all committees, with vote.

Section 2.        The Vice-President shall act as an aide to the President, shall perform the duties of the President in absence or resignation of the President; shall be membership Chairman; shall be an ex officio member of all committees, with vote; and shall be coordinator of all fund-raising activities.

Section 3.        The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the organization and the Executive Board and shall perform such other duties as delegated, including monthly newsletters and timely correspondences as deemed by other Executive Board members.

Section 4.        The Treasurer shall:

a.  Have custody of all funds of the organization.

b.  Keep a full and accurate account of all receipts and expenditures.

c.  Make disbursements as necessary.

d.  Deposit all funds in designated bank accounts in the name of the organization.

e.  Report at each meeting of the organization and the Executive Board for the period of time since the last report given to the body and give fundraiser report updates monthly.

Section 5.        The Assistant Treasurer shall work closely with the Treasurer and assist him/her in all duties requested by the Treasurer.

Section 6.        Fundraiser Chairmen shall work closely with the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer in all fund-raising events. All pricing of items shall be approved by the Treasurer before flyers are sent to parents and all orders will be checked by Treasurer or Assistant Treasurer before orders and funds are sent to suppliers.

ARTICLE III. EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1.        The chairman of the standing committees shall be selected by the officers of the organization and the band director or his representative.

Section 2.        The officers of the Executive Board shall serve until the election of their successors.

Section 3.        The duties of the Executive Board shall be:

a.  To transact necessary business in the intervals between the organizations meetings.

b.  To create standing committees.

c.  To approve plans of work of the standing committees.

d.  To present a report at the regular meetings of the organization.

Section 4.        Regular meetings of the Executive Board shall be held monthly during the school year, the time to be fixed by the Board at its first meeting of the year. A majority of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum. Special meetings of the Executive Board may be called by the President, Band Director or members of the Executive Board.

ARTICLE IV: MEETINGS

Section 1.        The regular meeting of the organization shall be held monthly with a minimum of six (6) meetings. Time and place shall be determined by the Executive Board. Four days notice shall be given of change and date.

Section 2.        Special meetings may be called by the President, Executive Board, Band Director or whenever ten (10) members, in writing, petition the President to call a Special Meeting.

Section 3.        All those present and voting shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business in any regular monthly meeting of the organization.

ARTICLE V: ELECTIONS

Section 1.        Nominations

a.  Nominations shall come from the general membership during the January meeting and may be made from the floor. Only those persons who have signified their consent to serve if elected shall be nominated for or elected to such office.

Section 2.        Elections

a.  Officers shall be nominated at the January meeting and be voted on, sworn in and take office before the close of the February meeting.  Elections shall follow this same format in subsequent months should it become necessary due to either lack of nomination or unexpected vacancy.

b.  Officers shall serve for a term of two (2) years or until the election of their successors.

c.  A person shall not be eligible to serve more than two (2) consecutive full terms in the same office.

d.  The Vice President shall assume the duties of the President in the second year of their term, and the Assistant Treasurer shall assume the duties of Treasurer in the second year of their term to allow for continuity in the organization.

Section 3.        A vacancy occurring in any office shall be filled to the end of the unexpired term by a person elected by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Executive Board, notice of such election being given. In case a vacancy occurs in the office of the President, the Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President.

Section 4.        To ensure a smooth and seamless transition between the outgoing and incoming officers, the outgoing officers will turnover any documents and support items used in the execution of their duties to the newly elected officers within a month after the election. School issued keys will be returned to the Band Director  immediately after the election.

ARTICLE VI: FISCAL YEAR

Section 1.        The fiscal year of the organization shall begin on June 1 and end on the following May 31.
